Harrison Township board approves budget transfers, contracts and two school resource officers

At its Aug. 18 meeting the Harrison Township Board of Education approved July financial reconciliations and multiple contracts, including two School Resource Officers at a combined $115,412.54, acceptance of a $7,300 FOCUS grant and sale of 157 outdated iPads.
Harrison Township Board of Education members on Aug. 18 approved a package of finance and procurement actions, including budget transfers, payment of bills and several vendor contracts, the board’s business administrator said.
Business Administrator and Board Secretary Christopher DeSanto presented the Board Secretary’s and cash reconciliation reports for July 2025 and recommended approval of three ratified bill lists covering June ($43,627.52), July ($312,853.53) and August ($364,387.62). The board also approved resolutions naming the business administrator as temporary purchasing agent and authorizing submission of ESEA and IDEA grant applications.
The board accepted a FOCUS Competitive Grant award of $7,300 for the 2025–26 school year and approved a maintenance contract with AME Inc. for $6,536 and a contract with Gloucester County Special Services School District (GCSSSD) to provide Chapter 226 nonpublic nursing services for 2025–26.
DeSanto also reported the district would sell 157 outdated iPads to Second Life Mac; the vendor grades devices by condition and guaranteed a minimum return of $8,937.30. Board member Walter Bright asked who sets the resale amount; DeSanto said, “Second Life Mac is the one who determines the condition of the equipment and we are guaranteed at least $8,937.30.”
The board approved a contract with the Township for two School Resource Officers at $57,706.27 per officer, an annual total of $115,412.54, and updated the district purchasing manual for 2025–26.
Items 1–14 in the Business Administrator’s report passed on a roll-call vote of 9–0. The meeting proceeded without public comment and adjourned at 7:19 p.m.
