Wardsville Memorial Fund tops $10,000; trustees select memorial site and honor longtime member

WARDSVILLE, Mo. — The Wardsville Memorial Fund has surpassed $10,000, village officials said at the Board of Trustees meeting on May 6, and trustees agreed to place the memorial at the side of the Albert Place Community Building.
Village Clerk Libby Chipman reported the Memorial Fund’s balance and said several donations and in-kind contributions have been pledged: donated labor (reported from Gary Frank), donated concrete (reported from Don Welch), and benches to be donated by Tim Wilburs. To avoid disturbing the building’s front facade, the board decided the memorial will be sited to the building’s side.
Chairman William (Bill) Gratz presented Paul Stonner with a plaque commemorating his ten years of service; the board planned a small celebration with cake and refreshments after the meeting. After completing regular business, the board adjourned the regular meeting at 6:45 p.m. to hold a special meeting to swear in newly elected trustees for the 2026–2028 term.
The minutes were submitted by Village Clerk Libby Chipman and are recorded as not approved; they will be formally approved at the June 3, 2026 regular meeting.
