The Board of Trustees for the Village of Wardsville met in a special session on May 6, 2026, at the community building, called to order by Board Chairman William (Bill) Gratz at 6:48 p.m. The board certified a quorum and noted several officials and residents in attendance.
Chairman William (Bill) Gratz administered the oath of office to three incoming trustees — Brian Schrimpf, Rachel Busche and Mark Buschjost — who will serve two‑year terms through 2028. After the swearing‑in, the board moved to reorganize its officers.
Treasurer Rick Taube nominated Rachel Busche for co‑chair; the nomination was seconded by Board Member Brian Schrimpf and the board voted unanimously to elect her co‑chair. Following that action, Village Clerk Libby Chipman requested permission to attend Missouri Municipal League training sessions scheduled for June 11–12 in Columbia and Sept. 13–16 at the Lake of the Ozarks. A motion by Co‑Chair Rachel Busche, seconded by newly sworn trustee Mark Buschjost, approved Chipman’s attendance and authorized the board to pay all expenses incurred for those trainings. The motions to elect the co‑chair and to authorize the training passed unanimously as recorded in the minutes.
To conclude the special meeting, Co‑Chair Busche moved to adjourn; the motion was seconded by Mark Buschjost and carried unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 7:01 p.m. The minutes of this special meeting are noted as not approved and will be considered for approval at the regular meeting on June 3, 2026.
Attendance listed in the minutes included Board Chairman William (Bill) Gratz, Co‑Chairman Paul Stonner, Treasurer Rick Taube, Board Members Brian Schrimpf and Rachel Busche, newly elected Board Member Mark Buschjost, Village Clerk Libby Chipman, Village Counsel David Bandre', residents Pam Stonner and Helen Campbell, and Matthew McFarland of the News Tribune.
