Harvey Cedars commissioners adopt recycling pact, accept federal vest grant and honor longtime auto shop

The Borough of Harvey Cedars Board of Commissioners unanimously adopted a slate of routine resolutions at its Oct. 4 meeting, including a five-year Recycling Center Use & Revenue Sharing Agreement with Ocean County and a budget insertion of $987.64 from the Department of Justice Bulletproof Vest Partnership program.
The board voted 3–0 to authorize Mayor John M. Imperiale and Acting Municipal Clerk Christine Lisiewski to execute the recycling agreement, which the resolution says will guarantee borough access to Ocean County recycling centers for the next five years and provide for the county to share 50% of net revenues or losses with participating municipalities.
Commissioner Paul G. Rice moved approval of the Friends of the Island Library Week proclamation (Oct. 20–26). Commissioner Joseph F. Gieger moved and Commissioner Rice seconded the Bulletproof Vest Partnership budget insertion. The board also adopted a resolution honoring Keith and Dorothy Baum and Harvey Cedars Auto for 75 years of service to the community and approved the bill list included with the meeting packet. All recorded motions passed unanimously.
Mayor John M. Imperiale summarized a recent update provided by Michelle Homberg on the borough’s action items in the Ocean County Multi-Jurisdictional Plan, saying the work “keeps our residents prepared for emergencies, informed on flood information, and flood insurance rates low.”
The board approved a public property usage request for the National Scholastic Surfing Association event proposed for Hudson Avenue Beach on Oct. 6 and Oct. 13, scheduled 8 a.m.–4 p.m. with about 50 attendees; insurance documents were on file.
