Briarcliffe Acres marks Arbor Day, approves Tree City USA renewal and schedules maintenance work

Mayor Pro Tempore Peggy Bell and Chief Kyle Lamparter said they had hung a banner for Arbor Day and reported that the town received renewal of its Tree City USA designation and adopted an Arbor Day proclamation. Councilwoman Laura Pendley, reporting for Beautification, said the committee will seek flower recommendations for the Gates area and will request removal of vines from bushes at Town Hall when mulch is placed for the golf cart parking area.
Councilman Brian McIntyre, reporting on Firewise and tree issues, said he and Mack Vereen identified dead trees that need removal and asked that ant hills and similar problems be treated in the medians ahead of the Firewise/Arbor Day event. Mayor Buonviri said Capital Irrigation had activated irrigation lines, repaired broken sprinkler heads and that routine cutting and blowing was under way. He also reported the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Swash) report is complete.
