Local Republican and Democratic parties present censure of Cherokee County School Board during public comment

Black cited district policies BC (board member conduct), BB (board legal status) and file BAA-E as the standards the board allegedly breached and said the April 20 board decision to deny a charter application—“unanimously by an 8–0 vote,” as stated in her remarks—reflected a failure to expand educational choices for students.
Washa Fowler White, representing the Cherokee County Democratic Party, followed and said her party issued “the exact same censure on the exact same day,” describing it as a formal statement of disapproval intended to hold the board publicly accountable. White told the board the resolution alleges the trustees “have failed to put the needs of the children first” and called for renewed commitment to transparency, accountability and student-focused decisionmaking.
Board members did not respond with a formal rebuttal during the public-comment period. The comments were part of the meeting’s public participation segment; the board proceeded to its scheduled action items, including budget and curriculum votes. The censure resolutions were presented for the record and, according to the speakers, were to be entered into the parties’ official records and provided to the Cherokee County legislative delegation.
