Student services noted a parent night with about 40 attendees, Special Olympics set for April 24 at Gaffney High (opening ~9:30 a.m.), and that the school choice window closes April 1 with roughly 290 applicants to date. Human resources said contracts will go out March 27 in the hiring cycle and reminded trustees of state posting and return deadlines.
Finance and operations: Finance staff reported $66.2 million collected in revenue and roughly $74.6 million expended through the end of February; staff highlighted an $8.3 million net change due to transfers to capital funds and an initial forecasted transfer of $3.5 million. Operations described plans for two band storage buildings (~$120,000 each) at Gaffney High and Blacksburg High and said the county will use right-of-way to widen a road providing access to a softball field.
Recognition and community notes: The board presented Crystal Apple awards to district staff and recognized athletic achievements including state and regional honors. The district's polar plunge fundraiser raised $3,800 for the Special Olympics, exceeding the $1,000 goal.
