Helmetta council approves consent agenda including temporary 2026 budget lines, hires and reimbursements

The council also approved Resolution 2026-59 establishing temporary 2026 budget appropriations across current, water and sewer funds. The meeting packet lists a grand temporary total of $904,225.00 (line-item breakdown included in the packet) to provide spending authorization pending final budget adoption. The consent block included the bills list and other routine resolutions; the consent package passed on a single motion, 5-0.
Personnel and hiring actions included appointment of a seasonal Public Works employee, Brandon R. Bandoy, effective Jan. 18, 2026 at $18.00 per hour. Several other grant-application and housekeeping resolutions were also approved as part of the consent agenda.
What happens next: Finance and department staff will incorporate the temporary appropriations into the 2026 budget process, recruit to fill the DPW vacancy, and implement the backup operator arrangement as described in the WRM proposal.
