Lebanon Township Committee accepts $42,000 county parks grant, approves budget inserts and routine refunds

The committee voted to accept the county parks grant, which the township said was awarded Dec. 10, 2024, and requires a 25% cash match. The mayor and township clerk were authorized to sign the county grant agreement, and the committee asked the Director of the Division of Local Government Services to insert the grant revenue and a corresponding appropriation line in the 2024 budget.
The body also approved multiple other budget insertions: $2,445 from the Statewide Insurance Fund under a '2024 SIF Risk Control Grant' line; $1,641.07 from the New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety for a 'Body Armor Replacement Fund Program'; and two separate $560 Somerset County receipts to be recorded under the 'Drunk Driving Fund.' In addition, the committee adopted Resolution 207-2024, authorizing line-item transfers totaling $117,080 across departments, including increases to police and road accounts.
A slate of refunds and administrative resolutions was adopted without discussion. Those included refunds of Highlands Exception escrow and fire-certification fees where properties or exemptions were previously documented, and approval to purchase outfitting equipment for a township police vehicle under a New Jersey State Co‑Op contract for an amount not to exceed $10,136.72.
All recorded motions were approved by unanimous vote. The meeting included a short presentation by a county representative (reported by Committee Member Jay Wojcik) when accepting the grant; no further public controversy or dissent on the resolutions was recorded.
What happens next: the township will execute grant paperwork with Hunterdon County, post the budget insertions for review by the Division of Local Government Services, and implement the authorized transfers and procurement actions as documented in the adopted resolutions.
