High Bridge council adopts committee assignments 4–3 after executive session

Following an executive session on Jan. 22, the Borough of High Bridge Council returned to open session and voted to adopt Resolution 050-2026, which sets council committee assignments.
Councilmembers Ferry, Matos and Murdock asked the mayor to amend the proposed assignments before the vote; Mayor Michele Lee said she would keep the appointments as proposed and noted that future amendments were possible. Attorney Wendy Quiroga advised that committees may operate and that appointments can be amended later if needed.
On the roll call for adoption, votes were recorded as Conroy, yes; Ferry, yes; Hamlin, no; Murdock, no; Nowell, yes; Matos, no; Lee, yes. The motion passed 4–3. After the vote, Councilwoman Murdock removed herself as Liaison for the Historic Committee.
The council had earlier agreed to consider the Resolution after executive session. The council did not adopt changes to the process for publishing assignment details at this meeting; Attorney Quiroga said options exist for how names and assignments are displayed in future resolutions.
