High Bridge approves consent agenda, appoints part-time zoning officer and backup fire inspector, introduces two ordinances

At its April 23 meeting the High Bridge Borough Council approved a consent agenda of routine items, introduced two new ordinances and, following an executive session on personnel, approved two personnel appointments.
The consent agenda (Resolutions 112–114) passed on a 6–0 roll-call vote. The items listed included acceptance of the resignation of Andrew Buterbaugh (Fire Sub-code Official), updated boards and committee appointments, and authorization for a borough senior-citizen brunch information session. Councilwoman Murdock moved the consent agenda and Councilman Nowell seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
Council introduced Ordinance 2026-007 (amending Chapter 190, Food and Beverages) and Ordinance 2026-008 (to exceed municipal appropriation limits to establish a 3.5% cap bank under N.J.S.A. 40A:4-45.14) by roll-call votes of 6–0. Mayor Michele Lee said both ordinances will be published in the Hunterdon Review and/or The Star-Ledger and posted to the borough website with their respective public hearing dates (May 14 for 2026-007; May 28 for 2026-008).
The council approved the bill payment list as presented, with a total amount of $3,339,168.61, on a 6–0 roll call vote.
The council then moved into executive session on personnel matters (Resolution 116-2026). After returning to open session, the council adopted Resolution 117-2026 to appoint a part-time zoning officer at a salary of $9,000 and Resolution 118-2026 to appoint Andrew Buterbaugh as Backup Fire Subcode Inspector. Those appointments passed on recorded votes of 5 yes, 1 absent (Councilwoman Hamlin was recorded absent for the return/open-session votes).
