The Washington Township Council introduced two ordinances at its Nov. 12 meeting and scheduled public hearings and possible adoption for Dec. 3, 2025.
Ordinance 0023-2025 would authorize a five-year tax exemption and abatement agreement between the Township of Washington and Castigilione Properties, LLC. Councilman Harris moved to introduce the ordinance and Councilman Yerkes seconded; the motion carried on the introduction vote. No public comment or substantive debate on the ordinance was recorded at the Nov. 12 meeting.
Ordinance 0024-2025 would amend Chapter 229 of the Township Code (Taxes). Mr. Yerkes moved introduction and Mr. Harris seconded; the introduction carried. Both ordinances are scheduled for public hearing and adoption on Dec. 3, 2025.
Why it matters: Ordinance 0023-2025, if adopted, would create a five-year tax-exemption/abatement arrangement for a named private developer, which can affect local tax revenue and project economics; Ordinance 0024-2025 would amend the municipal tax code. Both items will be subject to public hearing before final action.
What’s next: The council set public hearings for both ordinances on Dec. 3, 2025; any substantive changes or public testimony will be recorded at that hearing.
