Washington Township council approves consent agenda, cancels taxes for disabled veterans

The Washington Township Council unanimously approved a consent agenda of resolutions at its Nov. 12 meeting, adopting R278-2025 through R291-2025 on a single voice vote after Township Clerk Christine Ciallella read each title.
The consent package included R278-2025 (renewal of a cooperative contract purchasing system with the Camden County Educational Services Commission), R279-2025 (authorization to solicit bids for snow plowing services for the 2025–2026 season), R280-2025 (authorization to advertise requests for proposals for a conflict prosecutor), R281-2025 (appointment to the Municipal Utilities Authority), R282-2025 (approval of a large-gathering application for St. John’s Church of Turnersville), and R283-2025 (acceptance of a safety and stabilization bond and inspection escrow from SUP II Mill Pond Village, LLC for 382 Egg Harbor Road).
The council also approved small state grant appropriations: R284-2025 requests approval of revenue and appropriations from the State of New Jersey for the New Jersey Historical Commission in the amount of $2,100; R285-2025 requests approval for the New Jersey Council on the Arts in the amount of $2,800. Additional routine items included R286-2025 (refund of tax overpayments) and a set of tax-cancellation resolutions for totally disabled veterans (R287-2025 through R291-2025) that specify affected properties and effective dates as read into the record.
Mr. Harris moved approval of R278-2025 through R291-2025; Mr. Yerkes seconded. The motion carried with Mr. Harris, Ms. Pasqualone, Mr. Yerkes, Mr. Brown and Mr. Del Borrello voting yes.
Why it matters: The tax-cancellation resolutions provide property tax relief authorized by local resolution for residents certified as totally disabled veterans; the procurement and bid actions authorize staff to proceed with routine purchasing and service contracts ahead of the winter season.
What’s next: The council did not solicit additional public comment on the consent items. Implementation steps (for example, formal bid advertisements or contract renewals) will be carried out by municipal staff under the authorizations in the adopted resolutions.
