Western Fairfax Christian Ministries (WFCM) announced a $100,000 commitment from Starwood Capital Group and a separate donation of over 6,000 canned goods to support its client-choice market in Chantilly.
A representative for WFCM said the funding "will help us to continue to pay our rent here at the Chantilly market and offer client choice shopping, basically for families who live around here." The representative told the program that client choice shopping preserves dignity by allowing families to select fresh and familiar foods and household essentials that programs such as SNAP do not cover.
WFCM staff said rising costs for food, housing and utilities are increasing demand for their services; the donation is intended to keep shelves stocked and maintain operating hours that meet community needs. Program speakers emphasized that the partnership ties nonprofit operations to local businesses and philanthropic donors.
Starwood representatives and WFCM described the contribution as part of a broader community effort to preserve food access in western Fairfax County. The program provided the county contact information for residents seeking assistance or referrals to local pantry services.
