Dr SEO was elected president of the Millstone Township Board of Education by roll-call vote at the reorganizational meeting, the board announced after voting during nominations.
The election followed nominations and a statement from board member Mrs Kinsey, who said the board “has become a subject of concern among neighboring school districts” and that “potential employees want to [work elsewhere] due to its ineffective leadership and governance,” arguing that disputes and a lack of professionalism have undermined the board’s credibility. "It is clear that new leadership is needed and essential to restore credibility and focus to this board of education," Mrs Kinsey said.
According to the meeting facilitator, Dr SEO received a majority of votes of those present and was declared president. The meeting record shows members were polled by roll call in the order nominations were received; the chair declared the result after the count.
Board members also conducted nominations for vice president during the same reorganization sequence; Mrs Ramos was elected vice president by roll call and was congratulated by colleagues.
The nominations and elections took place at the start of the meeting as members completed roll call and organizational items. The board then moved to other business, including introduction of the district’s new superintendent and setting a timeline to fill a vacant ninth seat.
The board adopted its reorganization results and continued with the published agenda. The meeting record does not show further formal motions to reconsider these officer elections during the session.
