The Millville Board of Education on Oct. 27 approved a set of finance and facilities items that included a capital purchase for the high school, acceptance and application for several grants, and multiple partnerships.
Business administrator Richard Davidson presented finance items and the board approved the purchase of a new band box truck from Bergey's Truck Center for $120,845. The board also approved a lease financing agreement with U.S. Bancorp Government Leasing and Finance for $131,626.25 over five years at 4.46% interest, with annual payments of $26,325.25 to fund the purchase. Community member Rob Desantis later thanked the board for supporting the arts department and for the purchase of the new band truck.
The board accepted the Literacy Initiative for Families and Thriving Communities (LIFT) grant for $60,000 (Sept. 30, 2025–Aug. 31, 2026) and approved acceptance of a Lightspeed StopIt grant funded by the STOP School Violence Act (NJ Department of Health) in the amount of $17,067.38 at no cost to the district. It also authorized grant applications for Unified Champion Schools ($8,000), Holocaust Education ($1,000), and Field Trip New Jersey ($700), and approved agreements including a dual-credit articulation agreement with Rowan College of South Jersey and a Memorandum of Agreement with Famcare to expand STI/reproductive health services at Millville High School at no cost to students.
The board approved transportation contracts, including a tuition contract with Atlantic County Vocational for two students totaling $17,400 (plus a $6,318 adjustment from 2023–24, for $23,718 total) and several route authorizations with Sheppard Bus Service. The board also accepted the donation of a Rifton TRAM valued at $2,800.
