Millville Board approves wide-ranging staffing actions; names new Lakeside vice principal

The Millville Board of Education on Sept. 22 approved an extensive slate of personnel actions that included leaves of absence, several retirements, revised job descriptions, salary adjustments for certificated staff, creation of new grant-funded and district positions, and multiple appointments across home instruction, co-curricular programs, food service and after-school staff.

Personnel Committee Chair Mike Whilden reported the district currently has 11 open teaching positions and asked for the board's support on the package. The board approved Personnel items 12A–12V by roll-call vote; a separate Millville-board-only vote approved items 12W–12Z.

Notable personnel items included retirements announced in the packet (Wayne Parr, 25 years; Gerald Bruman, 24 years; Colleen Cain, 15 years), salary-credit adjustments effective Oct. 1, 2025 for several teachers, creation of temporary and grant-funded positions (data coaches, after-school lead teachers, Title I tutors, Club 21 and SACC staff) and additional pay authorizations for paraprofessionals supporting after-school activities (IDEA-funded) at an hourly rate listed in the packet. The board also set hourly and stipend rates for a range of extracurricular roles, including musical/set stipends and coach/advisor hourly rates tied to grant or district funding.

Dr. Matthew Mazzoni introduced Samantha Siegel as the new vice principal at Lakeside; Siegel thanked the superintendent and the board and reviewed her 10 years with the district. The minutes record that the personnel motions carried by unanimous roll-call votes where applicable. The board packet lists that some appointments are contingent upon receipt of required certifications and successful background/physical and drug screenings prior to final hires.
