Millville Board applies for NJDOE water-infrastructure grant and approves $2.21 million in bills

The Millville Board of Education on Aug. 4 authorized a grant application to the New Jersey Department of Education seeking $6,997 through the Water Infrastructure Improvement Grant to fund water infiltration updates at Child Family Center, Holly Heights, Mount Pleasant and Rieck Avenue.
Finance & Facilities Committee Chair Mike Beatty told the board the Rieck Avenue roof project is complete. The grant approval notes that the district will provide local funds if the estimated costs exceed the grant allowance; the grant term is one year from receipt. The board approved the grant application and accepted related finance items including out-of-district placement tuition authorizations, budgetary transfers and the secretary's June 2025 budgetary certifications.
The board also received and filed bills for August 2025 amounting to $2,208,655.17 and authorized payment when funds are available and invoices properly attested. Motions approving the finance items and bills were carried by unanimous roll call vote of present members.
Board President Carty and Finance Chair Beatty indicated further routine financial oversight will continue through scheduled committee meetings in mid-August.
