Ho-Ho-Kus Board approves 2025'2030 strategic plan, authorizes superintendent to implement

The Ho-Ho-Kus Board of Education voted Nov. 18 to adopt a 2025'2030 Strategic Plan developed with input from staff, community members and an NJSBA representative and authorized Superintendent Dr. Linda Bovino-Romeo to implement the plan.

The plan, prepared with New Jersey School Boards Association representative Matt Lee, lays out district goals and implementation priorities for the next five years, the board said. The board approved the plan by voice vote with all members recorded as "all in favor." The approval appears on the board's Nov. 18 agenda and was presented by district administrators.

Board members and the administration said the plan reflects a collaborative process that included staff and community feedback. Vice-President Maggie Lilijegren and Curriculum Committee member John DeFalco noted that wellness is integrated throughout district goals; DeFalco also outlined how the AtlasMath pilot was introduced to elementary teachers as part of curriculum planning.

During public comment, resident Jennifer Nahum referenced Strategic Plan Goal 5 and asked how community members can advocate as budgets and priorities are shaped. Superintendent Dr. Linda Bovino-Romeo said Goal 5 "is a heavy lift" and that the administration will provide time and opportunities to explain how community members can participate. Board President Mary Ellen Nye also responded to questions.

The board also approved its 2026 meeting schedule at the same meeting, listing regular and work-session dates from January through December 2026 and an organization meeting in January.

Next steps: the superintendent was authorized to begin implementing the plan; the administration indicated it will present further details and opportunities for public engagement as implementation proceeds.
