Ho-Ho-Kus board appoints speech-language pathologist, approves extracurriculars, substitutes and program visits

At the Oct. 14, 2025 regular meeting the Ho-Ho-Kus Board of Education approved multiple personnel and programming items affecting students and staff.
Personnel actions included approval of Claudia Allos as Speech and Language Pathologist starting Nov. 10, 2025 through June 30, 2026 at MA Step 2, $74,500 pro-rated at 60%. The board also approved leaves of absence for three employees with concurrent use of sick days, FMLA and NJFLA followed by unpaid leave through specified return dates. The board accepted the resignation of Virginia Vasquez, World Language Teacher, effective Nov. 30, 2025. All personnel motions were approved by voice vote with all members in favor.
The board approved extra-curricular stipend positions for the 2025–26 school year (for example, Frank Magyar — Bowling Club, $1,353) and authorized extra compensation for staff who worked school events. The Homework Club roster and hourly compensation were approved (teachers $45/hr; teaching assistant $30/hr). The board also ratified a substitute list that included nurses and teacher/para substitutes and approved CPR/AED staff training to be provided Oct. 13, 2025 at $50 per person.
Educational planning approvals included field trips (e.g., Kindergarten to Van Saun Park, Grade 7 to the Richard Rogers Theatre), ratification of author Gordon Korman's Oct. 9 visit, approval of Stacey McAnulty's Oct. 16 visit (funded by the HSA and Board, $2,150) and astronomer John Miller's planetarium and classroom visits with funding acknowledged from the Education Foundation.
These approvals were presented by the superintendent and board administrators and carried by unanimous votes.
