Ho-Ho-Kus board approves $113,474 budget transfer, accepts FOCUS and federal grant submissions

At its Oct. 14, 2025 meeting the Ho-Ho-Kus Board of Education approved several financial and grant actions, including a cumulative budget transfer of $113,474 to address underfunded operations and maintenance accounts.
The transfer — which covers maintenance repair, utilities, maintenance salary, grounds upkeep and security costs — was approved by the board and will be submitted to the Executive County Superintendent for review as required under N.J.A.C. 6A:23A-13.1. The motion carried unanimously.
The board ratified payroll for Sept. 30, 2025 ($439,499.14) and Oct. 15, 2025 ($394,977.67) and approved the October bills list, which shows Fund 11 at $873,104.12 and Fund 20 at $26,946.79. These routine approvals were carried by voice vote with all members in favor.
On grants, the board accepted Funding for Optimal Comprehensive Universal Screeners (FOCUS) grant funds from the New Jersey Department of Education in the amount of $2,580 to purchase an approved universal literacy screener for grades K–3. The board also approved submission of ESEA Title II ($7,662) and Title IV ($10,000) grant applications for the 2025–26 school year.
The agenda also included approval of special-education related services and contracts: LearnWell Educational Services ($4,000; $62.50/hour), Rutgers University bedside instruction ($980; $70/hour) and a 1:1 out-of-district aide placement billed at $54,063.00. The board approved these contracts as presented; specific contract terms and vendor selection details were in the agenda packet.
All finance, grant and contract motions were approved by the board with all members voting yes.
