Ho-Ho-Kus board authorizes Duffield Foundation-funded feasibility study for proposed athletic center

On Oct. 14, 2025, the Ho-Ho-Kus Board of Education voted unanimously to accept a Memorandum of Agreement with the Dave & Cheryl Duffield Foundation to conduct a feasibility study for a proposed Albert & Mary Duffield Athletic Center at Ho-Ho-Kus Public School.

The board authorized the president and the Interim Business Administrator/Board Secretary to execute the MOA and any documents necessary to effectuate the agreement. The board also approved LAN Associates, Engineering, Planning, Architecture, Surveying, Inc., to develop the feasibility study; the cost will be paid or reimbursed to the district by the foundation, according to the board resolution.

The MOA and the feasibility-study contract are the next formal steps toward evaluating whether the proposed athletic center is feasible in site, scope and budget. Board materials note that the Foundation is donating funding for the study; the resolution did not specify a study timeline or total project cost. Details about long-term operations, community access, or required approvals were not specified in the public materials presented at the meeting.

The board also accepted a shed renovation donated by Summit Siding & Windows with acknowledgment to the 8th grade graduating class for the gift. Facility-use approvals for community events and youth programs were also carried during the same Buildings & Grounds segment of the agenda.

All motions related to the MOA and feasibility study were moved and adopted by voice vote with all members in favor.
