Pelham approves $2.6 million park renovation bid, two ABC license changes and retiree longevity payment

The council approved a contract estimated at $2,600,000 to renovate Field 1 and to replace dugouts and fences for Fields 2, 3 and 4. "This came in $400,000 under budget," the council president said during the meeting, and the mayor's office noted the work will be paid from existing city funds rather than debt. The resolution authorizing the agreements passed with a motion and a second and a unanimous vote.
The council also approved Resolution 2026061805 to transfer the ABC license for Margarita Grill (the former Creekside Barbecue) and Resolution 2026061806 to authorize ABC and tobacco licensing for Sunny Star LLC, the Chevron at 560 Cahaba Valley Road. Both measures were presented as ownership/name changes with no increase to offerings at the locations and passed without recorded opposition.
On personnel finance, the council adopted a one‑time longevity payment under the legislature's Act 2026608. The payment was described in the meeting as $1 per month of service; the council offered the example that 25 years of service would equate to $300 under that formula. The resolution passed unanimously.

Implementation steps for the parks contract will follow procurement and contracting procedures; the resolution authorizes staff to execute agreements with the lowest responsive, responsible bidder.
The council did not raise questions that altered the approvals at the meeting; all four recorded council votes on the consent items and subsequent resolutions were affirmative. The actions will proceed to implementation by city staff and the parks contractor.
