Director reports circulation uptick; lawn project and accessibility plan under review

At the Coralville Public Library Board meeting on June 3, Director Alison Ames Galstad reported a 6.5% increase in overall circulation compared with the prior period and noted that roughly 60% of circulation remains physical items. Galstad said use of hotspots, Kanopy and OverDrive has increased.
Galstad told trustees that digital signage installation is complete and staff are adjusting font choices. She also reported a productive meeting with Confluence about proposed revisions to the library lawn project; Confluence will submit suggested revisions and Galstad said the board may consider using the trust and agency account to help fund the project at the next meeting. Galstad added that staff met with a student from the University of Iowa Community Engagement Corps who plans to use a grant to improve library accessibility for low-vision patrons.
The board also heard from staff that the library plans to replace computer carrels in the Reference area in the next fiscal year. Board members raised the possibility of key-card door access as part of broader facilities planning. The board set its next meeting for July 8 and adjourned at 6:37 p.m.
