General Manager Matt Brown reported to the board that the battery storage project remains at a standstill, with no new development beyond an email from Steve Burns at Citizens Energy. Brown said municipalities commonly find that large equipment orders are required to make procurement and shipping worthwhile, which can delay smaller municipal projects.
Brown said he has spoken with other municipalities and that Energy New England may have projects in development; he pledged to keep the board informed. He also referenced a news item citing a Rehoboth, MA, fire chief who raised safety concerns about a solar array in that town. No contract actions or motions were taken on battery storage at the meeting.
