Dan, a division manager, told the commission that three solar sites are complete and a fourth site will begin next month. He said staff submitted the first round of state-grant reimbursement requests covering roughly $179,000 of expenditures and expect to receive 70% of eligible costs, likely in July.
Barry reported that construction season is active, state permitting for a highway work permit is taking 8–12 weeks, and annual maintenance and aerial inspections of the transmission line found no issues. He said two new hires in the field have paperwork and testing underway with a presumptive start date of July 14. Barry also described ongoing leak surveys across roughly 109 miles of underground pipe in Hutchinson and Brownton, walking about a quarter of the system (around 28 miles) each year and asked residents to expect staff in yards doing safety checks.
Angie (Human Resources) said the welder service-position hire is being finalized and the compensation study continues. The legal representative added that the city has already received some reimbursement funds, citing a council update by Mike Sticker, and that the commission’s reimbursement should be forthcoming.
