County approves $978,200 LPA contract, orders dumpsters and flags gas-tax suspension risks to projects

The board approved an LPA consulting contract for the Bridge Safety Improvement Project with Lochmueller Group, Inc., not to exceed $978,200; the county will be responsible for 10% of the contract with the remaining 90% covered by federal funds. Commissioners voted unanimously to approve the agreement as presented.
Lueken reported chip-seal patching is underway, new equipment (chipper and oil truck) is performing well, and Bridge 107, Bridge 240 and Bridge 78 have been completed and opened to traffic. Bridge 36 (Celestine Road N) remains a full closure with beam and deck work expected to finish around the second week of July, weather permitting. Lueken also said the suspension of the MVH gas tax may impact Highway Department funding and could delay planned projects, and he requested an additional $15,000 appropriation in the Solid Waste Sticker fund to purchase 15 dumpsters; the board approved the request pending County Council approval.
