The Dubois County Board of Commissioners unanimously adopted Resolution 2026-10 on June 15 to amend the county’s restricted-addresses policy to comply with Indiana Code I.C. 36-1-8.5. The resolution defines 'covered persons' (including judges, law enforcement officers, certain probation and corrections staff, public officials and others listed in the statute), outlines procedures for bulk and individual redaction requests, and assigns the Dubois County Auditor’s Office primary responsibility for verifying requests and updating public property databases.
The policy sets a $25 per-parcel fee for initial and additional requests; victims of domestic violence are excluded from fees. GIS and public database suppression procedures are described—records marked “Confidential” will display a notice that information is withheld in accordance with I.C. 36-1-8.5. The resolution includes immunity language consistent with I.C. 36-1-8.5-12 and becomes effective July 1, 2026.
The resolution updates and replaces prior county policies adopted in 2015 and amended in 2020, 2021 and 2023. The board approved the resolution by motion and ordered it codified in county records.
