Irvington introduces 2024–25 Camptown and Springfield Avenue BID budgets, hearings set Oct. 28

The Camptown Business Improvement District (CBID) 2024–25 budget totals $254,188, funded by a 2.5% assessment on commercial property (carryover funds and grants make up additional revenue). Major expense items include cleaning and maintenance ($82,000), graffiti removal and mural programming ($45,000), professional fees ($59,300) and security camera matching grants ($10,000). The CBID board materials note the continued reduced assessment rate and several grant-supported arts and security initiatives.
The Springfield Avenue Center BID (SACBID) budget totals $358,000, with revenues drawn from BID taxes, reserves and Essex County Local Arts Program grants. Significant line items include sidewalk and Smith Street parking lot cleaning ($100,000), holiday decorations ($54,000), graffiti removal ($16,000) and administrative costs. Both budgets preserve funding for maintenance, beautification and grant programs and were introduced by the council for formal public hearings on Oct. 28.
The council’s introduction does not constitute final adoption; both boards and the public will have the opportunity to comment at the scheduled hearings.
