Dubois County commissioners approve highway, inspection and HVAC contracts and authorize vehicle purchases

The Dubois County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a series of procurement and contract actions during its March 3 meeting, including a Community Crossing contract, a three-year inspection agreement and a courthouse HVAC contract.
The board voted to approve Community Crossing contract 24-02 for $511,007.43 and authorized the county highway engineer to sign the contract on behalf of the county. Chair (S1) said the work will address winter damage on local roads and asked the highway engineer to proceed; the motion carried by voice vote.
Commissioners also approved moving forward with replacement vehicle purchases after reviewing multiple bids and trade-in values for two trucks. The board authorized staff to purchase low-bid units, including a Ram from Sternberg Chrysler, and to sign required paperwork. Commissioner (S2) noted outfitting costs and rust-prevention products would be addressed as part of the purchase and vehicle-setup process.
A three-year small-structure inspection contract with Butler, Fairman and Seifert Incorporated, priced at about $199,976, was approved. Chair (S1) said the firm would inspect roughly one-third of the county per year under the contract and commissioners voted to accept the recommendation.
The board declared various obsolete county items surplus, including ambulance batteries and boxed keyboards and mice, and approved disposal or public offer for those items.
On facilities work, commissioners approved a construction/maintenance agreement with Messerwood Mechanical Incorporated for courthouse HVAC upgrades. The chair said the agreement had been reviewed by counsel and contractors and the board approved the contract by voice vote.
Each of the votes was taken by motion and voice vote; commissioners recorded unanimous "aye" responses on the matters reflected in the meeting transcript. The board indicated staff should return with signing documents and next steps where required.
