Board approves finance consent package including $7.33M check register and multiple cooperative agreements

At its April 28 meeting the Jefferson Township Board of Education approved a finance and building-needs consent package that encompassed motions L.1–L.20.
Key items in the package included a purchase order list dated March 2025 totaling $450,332.50, a vendors’ bills release of $504,660.04 and a check register of $7,328,074.24 (General Fund $6,529,961.84; Special Revenue Fund $452,635.42; Referendum Fund $168,150.50; Debt Service Fund $177,326.48). The board also approved fund transfers for FY2024-25 totaling $365,779.07 and certifications required under N.J.A.C. financial rules.
The motions authorized cooperative agreements to share athletic programs with Sparta and Kinnelon school districts (ice hockey Tri-Op; swimming Co-Op) and joint transportation agreements with the Educational Services Commission of Morris County and the Sussex County Regional Transportation Cooperative. The board also approved purchasing through multiple cooperative purchasing sources and designated the School Business Administrator to manage bid advertisements and public bid openings per N.J.S.A. 18A:18A provisions. Disposal of obsolete equipment and the request to dispose of eligible school records under the State retention schedule were also approved.
The package passed on a roll call with one recorded dissent on Agenda Item L.7 (the Tax Levy Incentive Aid application) noted during the vote.
