Jefferson Township board gives first reading to generative AI acceptable-use policy and other revisions

At its Feb. 18 meeting the Jefferson Township Board of Education approved N.1, a first reading of several bylaws, policies and regulations posted on the district website for review.
Notable among the items was P2365, titled 'Acceptable Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI),' presented as a new policy. The packet also listed revisions and readings for P5111 (Eligibility of Resident/Nonresident Students), P5460 (High School Graduation), P5512 (Harassment, Intimidation, or Bullying), P5516 (Use of Electronic Communications), P5533 (Student Smoking), P5701 (Academic Integrity), P5710 (Student Grievance), P&R 7441 (Electronic Surveillance in School Buildings and on School Grounds), P8500 (Food Services), P9163 (Spectator Code of Conduct), and R9320 (Cooperation with Law Enforcement Agencies), among others.
The motion to approve the first reading was made by Mr. Stewart and seconded by Mrs. Small. Because this was a first reading, policies will be available on the district website for public review and will return to the board for final action at a subsequent meeting.
