Jefferson Township High School principal announces retirement; board approves multiple hires and coaching staff

Jefferson Township High School Principal Kevin Lipton informed the board that he will retire on July 1, 2025, after more than 14 years with the district. The acknowledgment of his retirement was recorded as part of the personnel motions approved Feb. 18.
Under a motion by Mr. Natale, seconded by Mrs. Small, the board approved L.1 and L.2, which included appointments of long-term substitute (LTS) teachers across grade levels and subjects (examples: Stephanie Creazzo, Teacher—Social Studies LTS effective March 24–June 20; Roger DeGroat, Teacher—Health & Physical Education LTS effective Feb. 24–June 20). The personnel slate also listed appointments for custodial staff, speech-language specialists, a SLE coordinator (Leslie Heller, LTS), and a number of aides and substitute hires.
The board recorded resignations, including Christina Tierney (Special Education Aide), and approved multiple leaves of absence (medical, family and intermittent leaves) with effective dates and notations that some leaves apply to non-tenured staff at the board’s discretion.
The board also appointed bedside instruction personnel and extra-duty positions, and approved the district’s spring coaching staff with specified base salaries and longevity stipends for head and assistant coaches. Several volunteer coach positions were listed as unpaid.
All personnel motions passed during the meeting; effective dates and mentor requirements for selected hires were included in the personnel roster presented to the board.
