The Borough of Keansburg on Jan. 29 authorized the Monmouth County Mosquito Control Division to conduct aerial mosquito control operations over designated areas of the municipality.
Resolution 25-010 notes the County’s Integrated Pest Management program includes surveillance, water management, biological and chemical controls and that Federal Aviation Administration rules (FAR Part 137.51) require prior written approval from the governing body for aerial pesticide dispensing over a ‘congested area.’ The resolution states Keansburg is so designated and that the County will use pesticides, equipment and aircraft approved by the applicable federal and state agencies and will notify the Keansburg police department before operations begin.
The resolution took effect immediately upon passage by roll call.
