Carneys Point committee approves routine resolutions, authorizes tax-sale notice and contracts

The Carneys Point Township Committee met Jan. 21 and approved a slate of routine administrative and capital-related actions, including authorization to advertise 2026 tax sale notices and the appointment of a third-party elevator inspector.
At the start of the meeting Mayor Bomba led the Pledge of Allegiance and the committee heard departmental reports. Dr. Johnson highlighted programming at the Family Success Center in Penns Grove, saying, “This is something everyone should have some knowledge of,” and described planned Recreation Commission events and proposed site improvements including two pickleball courts, new lighting and walking paths.
The committee unanimously approved Resolution 2026-40 authorizing the mailing and advertisement of 2026 tax sale notices and Resolution 2026-41 allowing the municipality to participate in an electronic tax sale consistent with state statutes. The body also approved Resolution 2026-42 appointing GS Elevator Inspections LLC as the township’s third-party elevator inspector.
The committee took action on capital and contractual items: Resolution 2026-46 authorized final payment #4 of $6,065.94 to Landberg Construction, LLC for Dunns Park ADA improvements; Resolution 2026-47 requested a six-month extension for the N. Miller Ave. roadway improvements under the NJDOT FY2024 project; and Resolutions 2026-49 and 2026-50 addressed release and establishment of performance bonds related to RG Carneys Point, LLC. The committee also approved a refund of tax overpayments totaling $9,246.61 for Block 255, Lots 6, 8 and 22.
A Civil Rights resolution on the New Jersey JIF template (Resolution 2026-43) was approved after a staff explanation; the committee asked that further discussion occur in executive session. Mr. Martin moved and the motion passed by unanimous roll call for the listed resolutions unless otherwise noted.

Under correspondence the committee noted a free rabies clinic held Jan. 17 and accepted resignations from Tom Pankok (Industrial Commission) and Amy Hoffman (Recreation Commission). Mayor Bomba appointed Adrienne Logan to the Recreation Commission with a term expiring Dec. 31, 2030.
The meeting moved into executive session by unanimous vote later in the evening and reconvened before adjourning at 8:05 p.m.
