Manager says Bridgeville culvert replacement could be fully funded as borough pursues multiple grants

Borough Manager Joe Carr told the council on Dec. 8 that Bridgeville has been awarded a $35,000 state grant toward a culvert subphase of the borough’s flood‑control work and that the overall culvert replacement is estimated at about $1.8–$2.0 million.
Carr said the borough is working through reviews on a $712,000 PEMA/FEMA grant and other pending awards. "We were awarded a $35,000 grant from the state for the...culvert project," Carr said at the meeting. He added the culvert work could be fully funded by grants if the pending awards are approved and noted the project will be done in phases to keep the one‑way streets open and maintain access to the firehouse.
Carr also reported that applications for park field lights and other park improvements are pending with state sources (LSA/gaming funds). He said a tree‑tender course previously authorized will be paid for with a grant obtained by Mrs. Tulmer, so the borough will incur no cost for that training.
The borough engineer told the council that a few punch‑list items remain on 2025 award projects and that final closeout of some 2025 work is in progress.
Next steps: borough staff will continue grant follow‑up with state and federal agencies and return updates to the council as awards are confirmed.
