St. Clair adopts fiscal year 2026 operating budget

Administrator Welty told the board that two errors in the first draft tax-line in the general fund and an item in the parts department—een corrected. Fixing the parts-department line freed money to add a roof project and door replacements, and a road-and-bridge tax that had been omitted from the first draft was added, increasing funds for street improvements. "I do recommend approval," Welty said during the presentation.
Board members gave the ordinance first and second readings by title; after a motion and second the mayor called for a vote and the measure carried. The clerk announced Bill 2025-51 becomes Ordinance 2246.
The budget adjustments described by Welty were limited to correcting beginning balances and specific line items; Welty said all other budget figures remain the same as discussed at the prior board meeting. No dollar totals for the overall budget were introduced during the presentation.
The ordinance takes effect under the city's standard implementation schedule; staff said the roof and door work will be procured and scheduled as budgeted. The board did not raise additional amendments during the session.
The next procedural step is for staff to move forward with procurement and implementation consistent with the adopted operating budget. The board's next regular meeting is set for Dec. 15, 2025.
