The Closter Board of Education voted unanimously April 30 to accept the resignation of Magaly Salamea-Cross, a trustee who has served since January 2020. The resignation is effective May 7, 2025.
The board adopted a resolution thanking Salamea-Cross for five and a half years of service and for her role as vice president. The motion to accept the resignation passed on a roll call vote with nine yes votes and no opposition.
Business Administrator Floro M. Villanueva Jr. told trustees a public notice regarding the vacant seat will be posted the following day and that applications will be accepted through May 15. The board advised that, per policy, groups are encouraged to select a single representative for public comment and reminded applicants to follow the posted instructions.
The board did not announce an appointee at the meeting; next steps are the vacancy notice and subsequent board action to appoint or fill the seat in accordance with district procedures.
