During a March 5 regular meeting the Closter Board of Education approved a package of motions on finance, facilities and personnel.
Key approvals included the preliminary 2025–26 budget and submission to the Executive County Superintendent for review; an authorized health-care adjustment of $206,689 allowing the tax levy to exceed 2%; a $900,000 Capital Reserve withdrawal for capital projects (including Tenakill locker replacement, Hillside network upgrades and blacktop work) and a $340,000 Maintenance Reserve withdrawal for required maintenance work. The Board also approved contracts and project closeouts related to Tenakill windows and a modular classroom addition.
On technology, trustees authorized the purchase of 360 Chromebooks (150 for Tenakill and 210 for Hillside) at a total cost of $139,860; the contract includes devices, EDU licenses and a four-year warranty. Personnel votes included the appointment of Cassandra Perez as a full-time, tenure-track School Psychologist with a March 26 start date, approval of substitute staff, and a change in track-coaching assignments.
