Principals report end‑of‑year activities; district earns NAMM music education recognition

Hillside Elementary Principal Dianne Smith reported enrollment of 604 students, grade‑level trips (including kindergarten to the Food Barn, first grade to Turtle Back Zoo), fourth‑grade visits from the Closter Ambulance Corps, and the district’s Work‑Based Learning program welcoming Northern Valley seniors. Smith said the school completed required security drills with the Closter Police Department and described the 100% Project to connect students with a trusted adult.
Tenakill Middle School Principal Christine Cipollini reported enrollment of 598, described a successful 8th‑grade Washington D.C. trip and an upcoming Grade 7 trip to Boston, and noted Tenakill’s band and orchestra performances and recognition as a NAMM Foundation Best Community for Music Education. Cipollini also highlighted Grade 5 students who were Panasonic EcoCitizenship finalists and upcoming moving‑on/commencement events in June.
Superintendent Vincent McHale congratulated music educators and students, cited the district’s multi‑year NAMM recognition, and mentioned Tenakill student art in the Belskie Museum and the Science Olympiad team headed to nationals.
