Carneys Point honors Wayne Pelura, Michelle Shaw and longtime local business owner

Carneys Point Township presented framed resolutions Dec. 17 recognizing two departing Committee members and a local business owner for years of service to the community.
Mayor Brown read and presented Resolution 2025-235 honoring Wayne D. Pelura, who spoke briefly to thank residents, staff and family and reflected on his years of service. Mr. Pelura abstained from the recorded vote on his own recognition. Later in the meeting Mayor Brown presented Resolution 2025-236 honoring Michelle Shaw; Mrs. Shaw thanked staff and residents and noted she was the first elected female committee member during her tenure.
Earlier in the evening, the Committee read Resolution 2025-222 honoring Alayiddin ("ALA") Ozdemir and presented a signed, framed resolution to the Ozdemir family in recognition of their business contributions to Carneys Point since 1992.
Public commenters also thanked departing members: resident Patty Bomba praised Mrs. Shaw for involving community members in the ADA playground design called "A Place for Sammie." The Committee extended holiday wishes and noted that reorganization will take place Jan. 7 at 6 p.m.
Ending: The presentations concluded with the Committee recognizing employees and volunteers for their support of township events and services.
