Residents press Carneys Point officials on snow plowing, mail delivery and sidewalks

Joe Wright said township and county plowing at the corner of Golfwood Ave. and Georgetown Rd. had been inadequate. Larry Bryant told the committee he and neighbors had not received mail for two weeks because snow blocked mailboxes. Leon Daniels said children were walking in the street because sidewalks were not cleared, and he raised concerns about a proposed tower near the high school.
Mayor Bomba and Mr. Martin noted that the township prioritized salting roads that connect to major roads and that DEP guidance discourages salting entire roadways and prohibits sand; they also explained that salt is minimally effective below about 20°F. Mayor Bomba asked residents to contact the county where county roads are concerned and said he would look into complaints about mail delivery and plowing.
Amy Secreto suggested the township use reverse 911 to notify residents to move vehicles for plowing; the mayor said he would consider the option.
