Shrewsbury aldermen approve ambulance grant, car-sales permit, park grant and other business; budget hearing set for Dec. 17

At its Dec. 10 meeting the Shrewsbury Board of Aldermen approved a slate of routine ordinances and agreements and set a schedule for final budget consideration.
The board unanimously approved Bill No. 4034 authorizing the mayor to execute a program services contract with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services relating to a grant for ambulance services. Alderman John Odenwald made the motion for the readings and final passage; Alderperson Bette Welch seconded earlier readings and motions as recorded.
A special-use permit (Bill No. 4031) allowing Grow Automotive, LLC to operate an automobile sales facility at 7666 Watson Road passed final passage unanimously. The board also approved Bill No. 4032, a contract with Building Stars Operations, Inc. for cleaning services for the Shrewsbury Police Department, and Bill No. 4033, a grant agreement with the Municipal Park Grant Commission to improve Wehner Park.
Alderperson Bette Welch presented Bill No. 4035, the 2025 city budget, in a first reading; Mayor Travaglini announced a Finance public hearing for Dec. 17 during the Board work session before the budget's second reading and final passage.
Department heads reported routine updates: Fire Chief Chris Amenn said his department completed an ISO audit and has made conditional job offers; Police Chief Lisa Vargas noted the department swore in Officer Michael Huff that night; Parks Director Chris Buck recapped recent holiday events and said bids for new tennis and pickleball courts will begin next year. City Clerk Katelyn Wands reminded residents that candidate filing opened Dec. 10 and closes Dec. 31.
Motions to move to closed session and to adjourn carried as recorded in the minutes. The board's next meeting is Dec. 17 at 6:00 p.m.
