The Shrewsbury Board of Aldermen on Oct. 22 approved the Oct. 8 work-session minutes, heard that the city’s 2023 audit was not yet final and will be presented at the Nov. 12 meeting, and received an apology letter from contractor Meridian Waste about confusion during the Oct. 18 bulk trash pickup.
City Clerk Katelyn Wands read Meridian Waste’s apology, which acknowledged the company’s role in the confusion around bulk pickup scheduling, stated the city was not responsible for coordinating the contractor, and committed to improved communication and publication of pickup guidelines. Wands also told the Board that an ordinance to expand the member count of the Shrewsbury Plan Commission will be presented to the Board at a future meeting (the transcript text included a date that appears inconsistent with the meeting chronology; the minutes did not clarify). After the meeting the Board was scheduled to hold an Aquatic Center open forum to discuss the facility’s future.
Alderman John Odenwald moved to adjourn and Alderperson Beth Parker seconded; the motion carried by voice vote. The meeting record provided includes no further details on timing or budget for the Plan Commission change or the Meridian Waste contract.
