Aldermen approve Shops at Smithville CID and redevelopment plan; one abstention

Alderman Marv Atkins moved approval of Bill No. 3079‑25 to create the CID and Bill No. 3080‑25 to adopt the redevelopment plan; both motions were seconded by Alderman Dan Hartman. After title readings and no discussion, the roll call votes on each measure recorded five ayes and one abstention. Alderman Chelsea Dana abstained on both votes. Mayor Boley declared both measures approved.
The redevelopment ordinance (Chapter 353 designation) declares the project area a blighted area and authorizes actions related to redevelopment, as described in the bills presented on the floor. The Board also approved a first reading to create a dedicated CID financial fund (Bill No. 3083‑25) to account for separate revenues and expenditures related to the district, and later consented to successor directors for the Smithville Commons CID board (Resolution 1515).

The measures passed with the same voting pattern: unanimous support among voting aldermen except for Alderman Dana's abstention.
