Moultonborough selectmen schedule two public hearings on possible acquisition of 81 Whittier Highway

During the Jan. 6 meeting, Town Administrator Angela Bovill announced two public hearings pursuant to RSA 41:14(a) to receive public comment on the potential acquisition of a building at 81 Whittier Highway. The hearings are scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026 at 5 p.m. and Friday, Jan. 23, 2026 at 5 p.m., both to be held at Town Hall. Bovill said additional information will be posted to the town website.
At citizen input, resident Joe Cormier of 817 Moultonboro Neck Road asked about statutory requirements for the board’s vote on property acquisitions. The board clarified that its intent is to bring the matter to the legislative body—the Town Meeting—so voters will decide whether to authorize acquisition-related action.
The schedule of two hearings provides two opportunities for public comment before the board places any article or recommendation before voters. The board’s next regular meeting is Jan. 20, 2026, and additional public information will be posted on the town website.
