Moultonborough Conservation Commission elects Brian Sanford interim chair
Summary
After the Dec. resignation of the commission chair, members voted to install Commissioner Brian Sanford as interim chair to finish the term; one member abstained from the vote. The commission also set a number of procedural and outreach action items.
The Moultonborough Conservation Commission on Jan. 5 elected Brian Sanford interim chair to complete the remainder of the previous chair’s term. The motion to elect Sanford was made by Anni Jakobsen and seconded by Steve King; the motion carried with one abstention from Sandra Kelly, who said she was unable to vote on the matter as the Planning Board representative.
The vote followed notice that Marie Samaha had resigned the chair position effective Dec. 2, 2025. Sanford confirmed he is willing to serve as interim chair and will assume responsibility for maintaining meeting records and the commission’s application spreadsheet, duties he outlined during the meeting.
The election provides continuity for the commission as members continue ongoing permit reviews and planning coordination with town boards. The commission discussed, and agreed to, more proactive monitoring of Planning Board and Zoning Board agendas so ConCom can provide timely comments on variances and permit applications.
The commission set Brian Sanford as the main point of contact for the ConCom email account and for maintaining the searchable application files going forward. Next regular meeting is scheduled for Feb. 2, 2026.
