Peru — The Peru Common Council on July 6 adopted Resolution 9-2026, approving a bundle of additional appropriations the city said are reallocations of previously committed funds.
City staff summarized the requested items during a 5:45 p.m. public hearing: automated external defibrillators for police, fire and building staff; car repairs for police vehicles; new cameras and sound upgrades for the council chamber recording system; a bundled YMCA package of previously committed items; and funding for the hometown celebration activities (distinct from fireworks). A council member noted complaints that the council-chamber audio was “muffled” on the local cable channel and said the planned upgrades may address the problem.
Council moved to consider and then to adopt the resolution; roll-call votes were recorded and the measure was adopted. Council and staff said these actions are rebudgeting of committed funds rather than new spending approvals.
The council adjourned the informational public hearing and reconvened for the regular meeting at 6 p.m., where the resolution was adopted.
