Leesville council approves series of routine measures including rate changes, recreation bids and property agreements

The Leesville City Council approved a slate of resolutions and administrative items during its Jan. 27, 2026 meeting, addressing signage, utilities, recreation, property management and grant applications.
Among the measures the council adopted were a resolution authorizing a variance application for an outdoor advertising sign submitted by Edwin Koenck (Parcel #0415753075); a resolution to modify water and sewer rates for 2026 to reflect the discontinuance of the penny; and authorization to advertise bids to install four pickleball courts, including fencing, at the city recreation complex. Council members adopted a resolution to seek professional appraisal services for Buildings A, B and C at the Industrial Park and authorized the city to engage Core Distinction Group to perform a hotel/restaurant feasibility study.
The council also approved terminating the city's agreement with Civic Source, authorized an event permit for 337 Haute Riderz to host a bonfire and trail ride on Jan. 31, 2026, and authorized engagement with Land Unlockd to handle property tax sales, including adjudicated properties. The mayor was authorized to sign and submit grant applications for the 2026'027 Community Water Enrichment Fund (CWEF) and the Louisiana Government Assistance Program (LGAP).
Most motions were moved and seconded by councilmembers and recorded as passing "with no public comments." The minutes do not provide individual roll-call tallies for these resolutions.
