The Berkeley County Planning Commission accepted staff’s recommendation that the Hatchery Road water storage tank detailed site plan meet subdivision requirements and voted to advertise a public hearing for Aug. 3, 2026.
The proposal (file 258-235) by the Berkeley County Public Service Water District and engineer Fox and Associates would place a freestanding water storage tank on about 1.95 acres along the north side of Hatchery Road. County engineer Doug Smith deemed the detailed site plan compliant with the subdivision ordinance and staff recommended moving it forward for public consideration.
Steve of Fox and Associates represented the water district at the meeting. With no substantive questions from commissioners, Mr. Hardy moved to accept staff’s recommendation and advertise the public hearing; the motion passed.
Next steps: advertising for the Aug. 3 hearing and later consideration of detailed site-plan approval.
